Responsible driving while on campus key points:
Speed Limits: Adhere to the posted speed limits and drive cautiously. Speeding not only endangers your safety but also the safety of others around you.
Safe Driving: Follow all traffic rules and regulations, including yielding to pedestrians and avoiding distractions. Your responsible driving ensures a safer environment for everyone.
Traffic Patterns: Follow the approved traffic patterns and do not drive on one-way streets. This helps prevent accidents and ensures smooth traffic flow.
Vehicles on Campus: Vehicles parked on school property are under the jurisdiction of the school. The school reserves the right to search any vehicle, if reasonable suspicion exists to do so. Students have full responsibility for the security of their vehicles and will make certain they are locked and that keys are not given to others. Students will be held responsible for any prohibited objects or substances, such as alcohol, drugs, and weapons, that are found in their cars and will be subject to disciplinary action. Searches of vehicles, as well as general searches of school property, may be conducted at any time if there is reasonable suspicion to do so, with or without the presence of the student. If the vehicle subject to search is locked, the student shall be asked to unlock the vehicle. If the student refuses, we will contact the student’s parent(s). If parent(s) also refuse to permit the vehicle to be searched, we may contact local law enforcement officials and turn the matter over to them.
Closed Campus Notice: During school hours, students are not allowed to leave the building or campus without explicit permission. Students may not access their vehicles during the school day without prior approval from an administrator. Unauthorized departures from the building will result in disciplinary action, and repeated violations may lead to the loss of parking privileges at Huron High School. Exceptions to this policy include students participating in homebuilding programs, those enrolled in dual enrollment courses, and those in cosmetology programs.
Parking Violation Notices: Any violation will be followed up with a letter regarding the "Appropriate Learning Environment Rights & Responsibilities".
