Freshmen/Incoming Ninth Grade
The transition to high school is a crucial time, and at Huron High School, our ninth-grade team is dedicated to making it as smooth and seamless as possible. We strive to plan learning experiences that will support your student through a successful ninth-grade year, laying the foundation for their future academic success throughout high school and beyond.
A key part of this transition is attending the parent-student orientation in the Meyers Auditorium. We strongly encourage you to bring your child with you before your scheduled registration time. During this orientation, you will learn about our school, community, expectations, and culture—essential information that was shared during previous transition events in the spring of 2024.
9th Grade Freshman Orientation
Thursday August 15th (prior to registration)
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
The purpose of this orientation is to help our incoming freshman class acclimate to their new school environment. We aim to positively influence the existing school culture, particularly in terms of reducing stress and enhancing academic achievement. HHS is committed to fostering positive growth in our students and helping them develop a positive self-image as members of the HHS community.
During Freshman Orientation, we will review information shared in the spring, including:
-
Learning about HHS traditions
-
Becoming familiar with the campus
-
An overview of student activities (Homecoming, events, clubs, etc.)
-
Understanding our school culture
Once freshmen attend the orientation, we hope they will continue to grow into HHS IB World Scholars who are inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring individuals. Our goal is to create a better and more peaceful world through education that builds intercultural understanding and respect. As you know, parental involvement is critical to the success of our students. Your involvement can take place at many levels, but the most important is for your children to know how much you support and value their school experience. We see you as partners in your child's education.
